Hi all, just thought I would start a topic for people that are looking for something new to read and can ask everyone else for their input.

In my case I'm looking for a good fantasy series to start reading (i.e. Lord of the Rings, Dark Elf Trilogy, etc).  Any suggestions?

This is such a good idea that I'm going to sticky this.

Alas, I have no ideas for you.  I'm sure someone *cough*saikyocrusher*cough* will.

If you wanna get ahead of the rest of the world before the HBO series debuts, I'd suggest George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Fire and Ice" series.  It kicks the usual tropes of the fantasy genre right in the mouth.

I just looked the series on amazon.com and it seems to have an overwhelmingly positive review.  I think I may pick that one up, thanks Brick.
Do you know if all 6 books are out?

Nah, still waiting on the fifth, which Martin has been working on FOR-EH-VER.
