It's basically a very late in the coming response to Marvel vs. Capcom.

Someone in the CHUD forums said it perfectly:

"This is MK trying to beat Capcom at a game Capcom won nearly 10 years ago."

Two franchises often considered the second best of their recent eras, meeting in mimicry of what their respective superiors merged to do ten years ago.  The MvC series is still considered by some to be the best fighting games of all time.  MvC2 for the PS2 goes for, no joke, $80 at GameStop.  The sad part is they aren't going to be stealing more from those towering legacies.  I think they should just shamelessly steal everything from MvC2 (the mechanics, the graphic style, the cheesy smooth jazz), then replace it with their characters and at the end of the teaser say: "MKvDC.  It doesn't cost $80".  Then I might get excited.

Giving birth is a lot like jury duty.  It's well and fine in the right hands, but we mostly leave it up to the people too stupid to get out of doing it.
