I agree with your observation. The flavors are good when put in the same bag, they blend slightly put don't fully combine and in doing so complement each other. It seems that lately there is a new flavor every month. They may be pushing for a larger variety, but really they're going a bit overboard.

And by the way, what happened to that Muskeet BBQ VS. White chedder promo? I haven't seen either on the shelves for a while.

Smokin' Cheddar BBQ won and, subsequently, both of them disappeared.  I did see some bags of the BBQ flavor for a brief time but I think they left the Hampton Roads area.

BETRAYAL! The smokin' BBQ cheddar was delicious, those cads at Frito-Lay better get it back on the shelf soon.

But then where will the shelf space for the marinara sauce-flavored Doritos go?

I tried the Hot wings/ Bleu cheese flavors today and I am not impressed with the results.

Hot Wings= Tastes like a weak Habenero flavor

Bleu Cheese= Tastes like a salty Cooler Ranch

Both together= Tastes like the Blazin' Buffalo

This leads me to believe that all Dorito flavors are nothing more than combinations of previous flavors mixed to different degrees. A chemistry set of flavors if you will. This means the concept of a marinera flavor may not be so far fetched. Grin

Well then, let me say this so Axel doesn't burst into the thread filled with sadness...

"Why won't they make Jumping Jack Doritos anymore then?!"

And yeah, considering they had pizza Doritos, marinara ones wouldn't be that far-fetched.

The original gimmick flavor.  I died that day.  No Dorito will ever be the same.

Yus!  We will amass an army of rotund chip eaters, gather on a large couch, and complain loudly!

That would have to be a very large couch, one would think.  I'm not sure if you'll be able to fit the target audience in there.

Those chips in the "flavor experiment" bag were awful, period.  I ended up throwing half a bag away, and to those of you that know me, it's pretty rare when I actually throw food that isn't stale/spoiled/rotten away.  I actually like the Blazin' Buffalo chips, but....yeah.

Agreed. I liked the first bag of the "flavor experiment" as an experiment (Hey, I'm in college, I'm allowed to experiment!) but with subsequent tastes, the flavor just made me nauseous.

Not a big fan of the cheddar BBQ, but I too loved the Blazin' Buffalo Wing. I'm going shopping, maybe I'll find some Taco flavored...

S'funny but I just had a waitress in Hooters ask if I wanted my buffalo wings with more Dorito flavor for a buck more.

Least that was what I was told she said...I was distracted.

I just picked up a bag of the Taco/Ranch Dorito's collisions. At first, I thought that the Cipotle Ranch did have a somewhat tangier flavor, but I think that was just some of the dust from the Taco flavor rubbing off. The Taco flavor itself tastes less...taco-y than I remember. I remember it as being, "Wow, I can almost actually taste the meat and sour cream." Now It's like, "Hmm, tastes like a slightly altered Nacho cheese chip."

By wrasslin or Boobs? cause I remember when I used to watch PPV's, when there was a good match on, not even our waitress' fantastic baby feeders could distract me. "yeah sure, honey, I'll take a refill on my iced tea... HOLY SHIT! That was an awesome sequence! Eddie! Eddie! Eddie!"
