Can these two confectionery staples make decent puddings?  Good thing Kenzan Eats Things, so you don’t have to spend any money to find out.

Solid foods don’t normally translate well into liquid (or liquid-esque) format, and for good reason; solid foods are meant to be solid, dang it!  There are some novelties, such as Turkey and Gravy Jones Soda, and some actual attempts at making such a thing work, like the Jolly Rancher or Lifesaver soda, but usually this fails.  So when I saw Cinnamon Roll and Blueberry Muffin puddings, while I knew I was potentially in for a rough review, it had to be tried.

I started with the Cinnamon Roll because, well, I love sweet cinnamon things.  This is evidenced by my love for the Cinnamon Dulce Latte at Starbucks and Ben and Jerry’s Cinnamon Roll ice cream.  Even still, with all of my love dedicated towards cinnamon treats, I looked at this with hesitation in my eyes.  Can there truly be a pudding as delicious as an actual cinnamon roll?  Sadly, there can not.

The main problem with Cinnamon Roll pudding is the texture.  The flavor of a cinnamon roll is not truly captured because of the thick, gloppy feel of a spoonful of pudding.  On top of that, there is little, if any, cinnamon taste to the cup.  If anything, it appears as though Hunt’s went with the flavor of the icing moreso than anything, which is a disappointment in my eyes.  As someone that doesn’t like normal cinnamon roll icing, which is little more than sugar, this struck me as disappointing.  If you like cinnamon roll icing, I suppose this would be suitable, but I was left crestfallen that there was no true cinnamon roll goodness in this pudding cup.

After weeping softly over having my dessert heart broken, I moved onto the Blueberry Muffin.  I knew that the texture wasn’t going to match up, but surprisingly the flavor was just right.  It admittedly felt a little odd having the flavor of blueberry muffins with the texture of pudding, but fortunately they didn’t go overboard with the blueberry flavor.  It wasn’t great, but it was certainly more satisfactory than the Cinnamon Roll.  When all was said and done, I wouldn’t truly consider making these permanent purchases as I don’t eat pudding on a regular basis, but I would definitely pick Blueberry Muffin over Cinnamon Roll.  Much to my dismay.

If you don’t mind me, I’m going to go cry a little more.  All is not right with the world.
