Hypocracy in Gaming

Yeah, I spelled sequel wrong.  Sue me.  Dust off your NES and tell me with a straight face that they never made any typos.

If I told you I wasn’t all that excited about the up coming Street Fighter 4 title, you would probably lynch me.  Sadly, it is true.  And before my execution, allow me my final words.  Everything I have seen has been pictures and videos of classic characters on a classic 2D plane fighting in traditional Street Fighter fashion with polished and beautiful 3D graphics.  And I think this is exactly what the new sequel should be.  I will play the game when it arrives and I will enjoy it.  But, when I load my my GameTap account, I have an entire play list of these games that already got the formula right.  There are a lot of them.  The franchise and its spin-offs have already saturated me, and the visual polish just doesn’t leave me needing it anymore than what I have.

Mega Man is no stranger to market saturation, and I now realize I still haven’t given some of the later titles the attention they deserve.  I’m not a fan of all of the off-shoots, but I’m a huge sucker for the original series.  I have both Mega Man Collections (Classic and X), as well as several gray-carts.  I’ll be one of those suckers taking my robot masters 8 at a time until the end of time.  Hypocrite?  Yes, but I’m comfortable enough to admit it.
